The eight-year-old boy had vanished from the car and – as if by slick, sick magic – had been replaced by a note on the steering wheel . . . ‘You don’t love him’…
At the height of summer a dark shadow falls across Exmoor. Children are being stolen from cars. Each disappearance is marked only by a terse note – a brutal accusation. There are no explanations, no ransom demands… and no hope.
Policeman Jonas Holly faces a precarious journey into the warped mind of the kidnapper if he’s to stand any chance of catching him. But – still reeling from a personal tragedy – is Jonas really up to the task?
Because there’s at least one person on Exmoor who thinks that, when it comes to being the first line of defence, Jonas Holly may be the last man to trust…
Belinda Bauer’s three books are wonderful. Not only does each have a story that keeps you hooked from start to finish, but there’s also the humour and the understanding of everyday people and how they cope with extraordinary events. You find yourself drawn into a completely believable world filled with wonderfully rounded characters. Exmoor is brought to life – both it’s beauty and it’s darkness. My only sadness is that I now have to wait for the next book!
I read Blacklands and Darkside in order as they were released. I also read Finders Keepers in February. Finders Keepers recovered my disappointment of Darkside, and I found Finders Keepers held my attention and I wanted to keep reading. Exciting and gripping as was Blacklands, and I was very pleased to see the characters from all three books appearing Finders Keepers, as it was not only an integral part of the story, but it also allowed Belinda to tell her readers how life was progressing for the village residents from the point of view of her first book, Blacklands. I am looking forward to the next installment from Belinda. I’m very proud that Belinda is a British author whose writing is interesting and exciting without being trashy.
Belinda delivers a dark thriller relentlessly suspenseful this is a talented newcomer I hope Jonas stays
I have just read Finders Keepers, and like the Review above, I, also, have not yet read the previous 2 novels. My only regret is that I have not read them in the correct order as a lot is hinted at in this the third in the series. However, I will look forward to clarifying things for myself by reading the previous 2.
Thank you Belinda, and keep writing!

Just read a proof copy of this book, and in a word, it’s stunning! Unfortunately I didn’t read the previous two. I wish I had, as Finders Keepers follows on from them, and by necessity, contains information about events they follow, so I think I’ve spoiled the surprise a bit for myself. But even by itself, it is an amazing, gripping, absorbing story. Nearing the end, I couldn’t put the book down. I’ll be recommending it to customers in my bookshop who love well-written British crime
